EVERYBODY WANTS A HANDMADE BRACELET. I'VE MADE SO MANY BRACELETS THAT I HAD TO PURCHASE MORE STRING.
My 8 year old was able to follow the directions and spends hours making bracelets for family and friends.
I'd buy extra string. I suppose this is good for a beginner, but there's barely any string so you don't really get to make all the bracelets with the colors you want.
The whole family is now covered in them. They have been making bracelets nonstop. I bought this for my 8 and 10 year old girls. They absolutely love it.
Friendship bracelets have been worn by both boys and girls in the past but it seems now that mostly girls wear them. I see teens wearing these bracelets, especially complicated ones with custom colors selected at the craft store. It starts with the easiest and progresses to the more difficult, with one that combine beads with the knotted embroidery floss. The directions are clear and are in text with drawn illustrations.
Only the most patient and nimble fingered six year old would be able to do this craft though. I highly recommend this book. The appeal and difficulty level of these bracelets takes the age up to ten and beyond.
Klutz has a line of books that are actually art and craft kits with all the materials and instructions to do it, and this is one of the great ones.Friendship Bracelets comes with ten colors of embroidery floss and directions to make ten different styles of bracelets. The publishers state this is for kids aged 6 and up. It would make a great gift item, especially for tween-aged girls aged 8-12 who like to do crafts or handcrafts.
The two pieces of floss to be knotted are shown in contrasting colors which makes it easy to understand the step being demonstrated. The colors that come with the kit are appealing to both girls and boys.
